Prague is a famous city for its art aficionados, historians and archaeologists. It is highly praised in the world because of its unbelievable artefacts, collectibles, paintings and masterpieces. It is a hidden beauty as well a coffer of magnificent architecture.

Being a centre of attraction to all visitors, Prague offers several exhibition centres, museums and galleries in the different areas of the city. At present, the city boasts many exhibition centres. One should visit Prague and explore the city, one of the world’s heritage sites.

Dox – Centre for Contemporary Art
In 2002, the idea for establishing Dox- Centre for Contemporary Art, a landmark in Prague, was initiated by Leos Valka but was adopted by other co-partners, Robert Aafjes, Richard Fuxa and Vaclav Dejcmar.

Dox- Centre for Contemporary serves several people by its living art centre as well and offers a platform for exhibiting Czech and contemporary art. This centre proves to be a medium for social interaction by its objective of exhibiting works of art.

House of the Black Madonna – Exhibition of Czech Cubism
The House of the Black Madonna includes a comprehensive collection of Czech Cubism and displays works of art that belong to the period from 1910 – 1919. The proposal for constructing a historic building, House of the Black Madonna- Exhibition of Czech Cubism, was offered by Josef Gocar, Pavel Janak and Josef Chochol. The exhibition centre workshops were based on the concept of art industry by the Wiener Werkstatte although these works of art were mainly designed for the furniture production.

Jaroslav Fragner Gallery
A symbol of Prague is a well-known destination for exhibiting unique architecture. Located next to the famous Bethlehem Chapel, the gallery was rebuilt according to a project by Jaroslav Fragner during the years 1949 -1953.

The gallery focuses on works of art of major individuals and groups who contributed to the development of architecture. It offers range of books on architecture, design, advertising, fine art and many other fields in its bookshops.

Mucha Museum
The world’s first Mucha Museum is dedicated to the life of the internationally renowned Czech ART NOUVEAU artist, Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). The museum is housed in the Baroque Kaunicky Palace situated in the heart of Prague. The museum comprises a selection of over 100 exhibits that include paintings, photographs, charcoal drawings, lithographs and personal memorabilia. The posters of Sarah Bernhardt are a symbol of attraction in the fashionable world of fin-de-siecle Paris.

Introduction

In the writing of Decade Null I introduced just about every topic on the subject of the paranormal. My modus operandi was to give a detailed account of an actual event, such as a ghost sighting. Then I went into the details of the mechanics of ghosts, and then I went into the physics of it, and then… Well, I realized I had gone way outside the bounds of the story line. All these extra details had to be extracted from the novel. It didn’t make sense to delete these extracts, so I assembled them into a set of companion books to Decade Null.

Mark Angelo has investigated every aspect of the paranormal. This is not because he finds it of great interest, nor is he plagued with needing the truth, and though the science of it may be important, the bottom line is it makes a select group very wealthy. How a haunting equates to a cash cow is for “them” to know and no one else to find out. This begs the question as to how “they” found out; so, I give you Mark Angelo.

I write fiction! Yet you might then be amazed that only question I get from readers is, “How do you know that?” Well, I’ll respond with the question, “How did Jules Vern know about atomic powered submarines back in 1860?” My quick quip comes to no avail however. Unhappy readers are just as quick to email death threats these days. So, I give them Mark Angelo.

If a man in a rubber suit goes around making Bigfoot tracks in the mud, he will not leave behind any DNA traces of Bigfoot. Don’t even ask how I know that! It is common sense!

Sure, it is common sense if I have a background in forensics –which I do not. But Mark Angelo does. Do you get my drift so far?

So, I created Mark as a fictional character, and that should make me suspect in your mind because Mark cannot know more than I do. Mark is fictional, but he is a composite of real people with real degrees in science and philosophy. Mark is Galileo, whom was placed under house arrest for heresy, for daring to examine the fringes of science destined to become a multi billion-dollar industry. Mark is Jung and Tesla; he is a pioneer!

Then if you ask, “How did all those smart people out there get to know what they know?” Just remember, they were the pioneers that brought all those good things to light! Columbus knew there was a western route to India, and that’s a classic example of how the fringe sciences unfold. After setting foot in the West Indies, he was so sure he found India and he rushed back home with the good news. Yet, when the queen inquired about the spices, Columbus stood there with a dumb look on his face. He wasn’t the first to be called a crackpot, but he was the most famous in that respect. So, he never made it to India, but he was the first to discover America –sorry dude, that title goes out to Leif Ericson! Such are the woes of the fringe sciences; only the very brave need apply, and only those who can afford to look like fools can do the job. My hat is off to them!

This book doesn’t include Mark Angelo; rather it is a collection of the actual people he represents. I would be hard-pressed to call this fiction, but it is highly fictionalized to avoid turning our heroes of yore and lore into crackpots. I promise this is no more fictionalized than the history books we get in school. The Boston Tea Party was not a revolt against taxes as the books claim; Actually, England had lifted the taxes on tea making their product impossible to compete with –and that was the real nature of the revolt. Certainly nothing good can come from vilifying our forefathers, thus the truth WILL be fictionalized!

I saved all of my death threats on a CD, which will be the subject of my next book. Until then, we must revere the words of Madonna as saying, “There is no such thing as bad publicity.” I’m sure I will come to terms with these words some day as I discover that middle ground which makes them morally conscionable. And this is also to point the finger at whom “they” are that Mark Angelo makes so wealthy. “They” are the day traders! It makes no difference where you invest your money as long as it makes you money. So, you will fund child labor in Africa, inhumane treatment of cows, and the makers of anthrax –because all of these are in your mutual funds. And the immortal words of Madonna are not far from reality! It’s not that you can’t handle the truth, but the truth takes away any remainder of fun left in earning a living. So, I give you fiction!

At one time, all of Asia was occupied by Britain, France, and Spain –all of Asia except Thailand. Nobody would occupy Thailand. Even as Japan ruthlessly tried to conquer Asia, they too steered clear of Thailand. I will assure you, this is not due to any fierce warrior mindset of this nation. They will exchange glances before they even consider an exchange of mortar rounds. They’ll just assume cross-dress than cross-fire. Then if you think you have what it takes to invade Thailand, think again. It takes money, and you will never have that kind of money. All of the wealth in China today is merely the overflow of money from Thailand (see the Four Khans). When the United States needs a loan to survive, that loan comes from Thailand. How did they get so wealthy? One word: poppy!

I’m not out to vilify Thailand, quite the contrary this is a kick in the you-know-what to the United States and all else who favor the drug empires. Certainly, nothing good can come from such truth –or can it? These are the original merchants who amassed the first wealth, and they’ve been gaining wealth since the Earth was created –about 6,000 years ago! Though by the size of that cash cow, it would seem they’ve been in business for over 40.000 years! We can only imagine the wealth in history and knowledge, but we need not imagine as we go west to a place called Indus. Think about how much the United States has advanced in two hundred years, and then consider how far a civilization went in 40,000 years! Now, you cannot handle the truth this time! But if you so dare, go slightly more west young man, to a place called Eden (this was an intentionally fictional name for a model of the known world envisaged around 10,000 BC, and largely based on the landscape of Persia).

Renaissance Art and the Depiction of Archangels

Archangels were a commonplace subject for artists from the Middle Ages through the Renaissance Period. As Angels of Presence, with the permission to enter the presence of God, the four Archangels – Gabriel, Uriel, Raphael and Michael were recognized across the religions of Christianity, Juadaism and Islam, although their greatest roles were often documented in apocryphal writings.

The most well known depiction of the Archangel Michael resides in the Santa Maria della Concezione, in the first chael. The work is from Renaissance painter Guido Reni, who was a master of the Baroque style which evolved from the Roman Catholic Churches edict that religious art should engage the commoner with dramatic and emotional appeal. Reni’s The Archangel Michael shows the fair haired, musculatured angel with androgynous features hovering over the Devil, with his foot against the demon’s head forcing him into submission. The painting depicts a scene from the book of Revelations where Archangel Michael commands an Angel Army against Lucifer and binds him for 1000 years. It is often referred to as Archangel Michael Slaying the Devil.

The Archangel Gabriel was the angel who announced to the Virgin Mary that she would have a son by God. This biblical event is referred to as The Annunciation and is a frequent subject of Renaissance art. Two works stand out as iconic paintings on the subject. Da Vinci’s the Annunciation was painted from 1472-1475 and is credited to both Da Vinci and his mentor Andrea del Verrocchio. In the painting Archangel Gabriel kneels before Mary, a Madonna lily in hand which historians believe symbolizes Mary’s virginity.

Botticelli’s Cestello Annunciation, commissioned in 1489, captures the same event with similar imagery. The painting is noted for its use of perspective in the tiles that lead the eye to the landscape. Botticelli paints Gabriel with mouth open, to represent his words from the Gospel of Luke which were added into the paintings original frame. Today both paintings can be seen in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.

The angel Raphael was most often captured in oil as the guardian of Tobias, son of Tobit on his journey to recover hidden money for his blind father, a passage from the Book of Tobit. His role as god of healing and protector is evident in these paintings that show him leading the boy by his hand. Filippino Lippi’s version of Tobias and the Angel can be seen at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. Rembrandt took great interest in the Book of Tobit and the Archangel Raphael, making it a frequent subject of his work.

Da Vinci used Archangel Uriel as the subject of two nearly identical paintings titled Virgin of the Rocks or Madonna of the Rocks. The painting displays a scene where the baby Jesus encounters his cousin John the Baptist as an infant. In the paintings, the Archangel Gabriel is seated to the Mary’s left holding the baby Jesus. Subtle variations can be seen in Da Vinci’s two paintings. In the version of the painting on display in the National Gallery in London, Mary, Jesus and John are haloed. In the version that can be seen in the Lourve, Uriel points at John. While the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown has created some controversy around these paintings and the true identity of Jesus in the image – art historians surmise that the original where Uriel points at John who is closest to Mary did create confusion and the second painting by Da Vinci removed this gesture.

Celebrities are glaring in Toronto International Film Festival

Well it is really busy in September, the Venice International Film Festival hasn’t been closed, and the New York Fashion Week has just opened, at the same time Toronto International Film Festival is just kicking off. And there are so many wonderful events, and so many celebrities appear on the catwalk. We can pay attention to their different fashion styles.

Ten Year, which had its premiere screening at Ryerson last night, boasts an impressive list of stars, including Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Justin Long, Oscar Isaac and Rosario Dawson. It follows a group of high school friends who meet again at their 10 year reunion. At the pre-show dinner, Channing showed chivalry is not dead, according to a report in The Globe and Mail. Because his wife/co star Jenna’s pink cocktail dress was too tight to navigate the stairs into the restaurant, he carried her up two flights to the private event at Soho House. This is the second time they’ve co starred in a film, they first met in 2005 during the filming of the dance movie.

Madonna wore a Tom Ford dress on the red carpet to promote her second movie as a director W.E. about a woman (played by Abbie Cornish) who obsesses about divorcée Wallis Simpson, for whom King Edward gave up his throne. Introduced “one of the most famous people in the world” on the red. When asked what sacrifices she’s made, Madonna answered:”You make a lot of sacrifices and compromises. For instance, I didn’t get to see my kids very much. So that was a big compromise because I love my movie. So you always have to give up something for something you love, right?”

Gerard Butler was looking trim, healthy and more handsome than ever at the Machine Gun Preacher premiere at Roy Thomson Hall. He clowned with the crowd for photographs and signed hundreds of autographs before going in to watch the world premiere of his new film. Also on hand were his co stars Michelle Monaghan, Madeline Carroll and Michael Shannon, as well as Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro, who co starred with Gerard in the 2007 movie 300.

Fan favorite Viggo Mortensen made sure to greet the fans who’d been waiting for hours to see him when he arrived at Roy Thomson Hall for the gala screening of his latest film, A Dangerous Method, which also stars Keira Knightley. Earlier in the day, the co stars posed with a Montreal Canadiens hockey sweater to tease their Toronto born director, David Cronenberg. Keira says she had no idea what the significance of the sweater meant, but when Viggo “told me it would wind David up, we decided it would be a good idea,” she admitted. He also posed for Tribute’s cameras holding a Montreal Canadiens flag. It looks like these two had a great time at TIFF!

Fans who’d lined up for hours to catch a glimpse of Brad Pitt at the premiere of Moneyball were not disappointed. He showed up on the red carpet with his partner, Angelina Jolie, at Roy Thomson Hall and immediately walked up to the fans to sign autographs and pose for photographs. Jolie, elegantly dressed in a black gown, also talked to fans and signed autographs.

How to Create Your Own Techno Remix

For starters, let’s attempt to grasp what a techno remix is really all about. The basics of a techno remix are essentially taking a pre-existing audio or media clip, something that can be spliced with an editing program, and then remixing, re-hashing, or mixing up the various parts that make the song what it is. A remix is not simply a vomiting up of the original song or video, it’s simply a completely new version that has been re-thought and put together to express some new element or style of the music or movie.

There are several software programs you can get to create awesome techno remixes. These strictly audio-based software files are ones like Fruity Loops, Audacity, or Ultramixer. They let you load in a file – say you want to remix Madonna’s latest ultra hit or some other silly garbage to make it tons better—the song is laid out before you in a visualized way. Often you see sound files and different base sections stylized as individual blocks or colors to make it easy to manipulate.

Then you just isolate the parts of the song you like or the funny lyrics that work and repeat them to assemble a different beat. Toss in some melodies and base drum smacks to keep the tempo going, of course. The idea is to discover a totally new song hiding inside the original one. Maybe you’re going for laughs or maybe you just want to make a song more badass for a party.

It’s like sculpture. Michelangelo, the well-known Renaissance painter and sculptor responsible for the Statue of David spoke of sculpting as an uncovering of the hidden work of art inside the block of marble. Instead of approaching that big stone as something to be formed into art, he took the approach that there was already something awesome hidden inside the granite and his job was just to uncover it or let it out. Chipping away until David was freed from the stone.

So see your song as a hunk of granite and uncover the hidden gems hiding inside. Even Madonna’s tunes can make a sweet techno remix with the right artistry, thus saving them from SUCK.
